Reconnecting with your feminine energy

holistichappiness90

We live in a society where masculine energy is being overvalued. And that’s not a good thing. We get so caught up in needing to be productive and focusing on progress and success that we’re often left feeling exhausted, burned out, caught up in our mind and completely disconnected to ourselves and our deeper needs and desires. That’s why today’s blogpost is all about reconnecting with your feminine energy.

Masculine versus feminine energy traits

Everyone has masculine and feminine energy traits. For instance: your masculine side gets expressed when you’re working toward a goal, making progress, getting things done and pushing forward while your feminine side gets expressed when you move with the flow of life, embrace your creative energy, dance, play and attune to your internal process. Or more simply put: feminine energy is “being” energy while masculine energy revolves around “doing”.

Feminine energy is soft, nurturing and grounded but don’t mistake this for weakness. Feminine energy may be soft on the outside but on the inside she’s strong and she doesn’t hesitate to exercise her boundaries. She knows who she is and what she wants and she isn’t afraid to meet her shadows. She feels the wide spectrum of all her emotions and she looks for the lessons underneath. And that soul work allows her each time to rise stronger than before.

16 ways to embrace your feminine energy

It’s easy to lose touch with your feminine energy but it’s a necessary aspect of who you are because feminine energy restores and inspires you and brings you back to life again. And there’s more good news: there are all sorts of things you can do to embrace your feminine energy and work with her strengths and gifts.

  1. A journal practice can be a really powerful way to connect with your inner feminine voice and give her a place to be seen and heard. Pouring your heart onto the page, stirring up and confronting your deepest feelings and connecting to your highest self may make you feel vulnerable but it’s also very liberating.

  2. The feminine is all about life force energy so spending time in nature is a perfect way to reconnect to that energy. You could head out to a park, the ocean, a lake, a forest or anywhere you can lose yourself in your natural surroundings. All you have to do there is simply breathe and drop back into your body which will make you feel more grounded and revitalized.

  3. When you tap into your creativity, you’re connecting to your feminine energy so unleash your creative side by writing, dancing, painting, crafting, knitting, drawing, singing, baking, gardening, making furniture, cooking, playing music or dreaming up new ideas.

  4. Allow time for grounding, healing and balancing your energy. One of the best ways to do this is by practicing mindfulness, yoga or meditation classes. Or simply take off your shoes and walk barefoot in the grass, go for a swim or stretch out on a sandy beach and feel the sand against your bare skin.

  5. Make room in your life for spontaneous fun and play. For instance: take a new route to work and see what’s new along the way, take yourself out for lunch for no reason and make time for the things you always say you want to do but don’t get around to. And remember: it’s more than okay to do something or do nothing for no other reason than because you want to.

  6. Go with the flow: having structure and a solid plan is important to get you from point A to point B but it’s equally important to give yourself space to just go with the flow.

  7. Dancing is one of the best ways to get out of your head and into your body so pop on your favorite music when you’re at home and dance as though no is watching.

  8. Meditate: meditation is a great way to awaken your feminine power and channel divine feminine energy. The more you meditate the more you connect to your heart and inner wisdom.

  9. Feminine energy is far more connected to feeling and intuition than the masculine but in order to hear these messages we need to trust our body and heart. One way of getting out of logical thinking and connecting to your body is activating all of your senses. Intentionally experiencing an activity with all five senses helps you to be fully present in the moment and move away from your overthinking and overanalyzing mind.

  10. Let your intuition guide you: think about a time in your life when you made a decision and you didn’t exactly know why but somehow you just knew it was the right decision. That is your intuition at work. So the next time you’re faced with a dilemma, obstacle or big decision: look inward for the answers. The more you do this, the stronger that voice will become.

  11. Slow down: feminine energy means taking time as it comes and allowing time and space for life to unfold. So start getting comfortable with taking breaks, resting, taking a nap and having some spare time.

  12. Practice selfcare, selflove and self-worth: being able to love and accept yourself as you are, knowing your worth, allowing yourself time and space to do the things you enjoy and taking out time for yourself is crucial to feel energized and content.

  13. Start your day with a slow and nourishing morning ritual to help you ground, still your mind, reflect and connect to yourself and your intuition. Starting your day from that place allows you to move more deliberately, more intentionally and more resourced from within through the world instead of running around like a chicken with its head cut off. My own morning ritual involves journaling and 5 to 10 minutes of meditation and breathwork but maybe you prefer something that really grounds you in your body (like yoga or running).

  14. Tune into your menstrual cycle: start seeing your cycle as less of a burden and plan your calendar in accordance with your natural cycle. For instance, the premenstrual phase of your cycle is associated with the wild woman archetype. Connecting with her can help you accept and feel through a rainbow of emotions and transmute these experiences into wisdom.

  15. Embrace and explore your sexuality: feminine energy is about having a healthy relationship with your body and your sex. For instance, think about the sexual acts you engage in and whether you’re doing them because you want to or because you think you should. And if you have a partner: is he/she fulfilling your sexual needs?

  16. Do things that make you feel feminine: this is different for every woman and it could range from wearing silky soft fabrics and delicate jewelry, doing your make up and going to a spa or beauty salon to decorating your home, making something, cooking, walking outdoors, practicing yoga or meditating.

What do you do to reconnect with your feminine energy?
